LATISSE
There’s been a growing interest in this product ever since it was introduced. And it’s no wonder. LATISSE® is the first and only FDA-approved prescription treatment for inadequate or not enough eyelashes, growing them longer, fuller and darker. LATISSE® solution is a growth treatment for lashes. In fact, it’s the only FDA-approved treatment clinically proven to grow lashes. And it’s the only lash growth product of its kind available by prescription.
LATISSE® grows lashes longer, fuller and darker.
LATISSE® solution is a once-nightly treatment you apply topically to the base of your upper eyelashes, as instructed by your doctor. Then, gradually, the results come in. You may start to see more length in as little as 4 weeks and you should achieve full growth in 16 weeks. It’s not an illusion of growth. It’s real lash growth.

How LATISSE® works

LATISSE® makes lash growth possible because of its active ingredient: bimatoprost. Although the precise mechanism of action is unknown, LATISSE® is believed to affect the growth (anagen) phase of the eyelash hair cycle in two ways: first, it increases the length of this phase, and second, it increases the number of hairs in this growth phase.

The history behind LATISSE®.
LATISSE® was created by Allergan, a pharmaceutical leader with 60 years of eye care expertise. In 2001, Allergan developed a medicated eye drop to treat elevated intraocular pressure. Many patients using this medication also began to grow longer, fuller and darker lashes as a side effect. This led Allergan to study the medication's active ingredient, bimatoprost, specifically for growing lashes. After a clinical trial, LATISSE® was approved by the FDA in December of 2008.

How to apply
1. Before Applying
Before applying LATISSE® each night, ensure your face is clean, makeup and contact lenses are removed, and any other facial care products have already been applied.

2. Prepare the Applicator
Remove an applicator from its tray. Then, holding the sterile applicator horizontally, place one drop of LATISSE® solution on the area of the applicator closest to the tip but not on the tip.
3. Apply to Skin using Applicator
Immediately draw the applicator carefully along the skin at the base of the upper eyelashes (where the eyelashes meet the skin) going from the inner part of your lash line to the outer part. DO NOT APPLY in your eye or to the lower lid because excess hair growth outside the treatment area may occur.

4. Blot Excess
Blot any excess solution beyond the eyelid with a tissue.

5. Dispose of Applicator
Dispose of the applicator after one use. Repeat for opposite eyelid, using a new sterile applicator to help minimize any potential for contamination from one eyelid to another.

Tips for Success

Follow these guidelines for best results:

Think routine
Try to incorporate LATISSE® into your nightly routine — for example, after you've washed your face and brushed your teeth.

Keep it handy
Store the LATISSE® bottle near your other skin care products or toothbrush, so you won't forget to apply it each night.

Have patience
LATISSE® (bimatoprost ophthalmic solution) 0.03% takes time to work. Only use it once a night, and don't overuse it, as this may increase the chance of experiencing eye redness or itchiness.

Start fresh
If your eye makeup remover leaves an oily residue on your eyelids, wash off any excess oils with soap and water to ensure a clean surface before you apply LATISSE®.

Follow the rules
Always use the sterile, disposable, FDA-approved applicator provided in the kit. Don't try to apply LATISSE® with a cotton swab. The LATISSE® applicator is specially designed to hold a drop and release a drop.

Don't play catch up
If you miss a dose one night, don't apply more just to catch up. Simply apply LATISSE® the next evening and stay on schedule.

Beware of germs
Don't let the tip of the bottle or applicator contact your fingers or any other unintended surface, in order to avoid contamination by common bacteria known to cause infections.

Chart your progress
When you start using LATISSE® solution, be sure to mark your calendar and take pictures throughout weeks (0, 4, 8, 12, 16), so you can have your own "Before & After Gallery."

Stay the course
As we mentioned earlier, you do need to exercise patience with LATISSE®. If you're satisfied with your results by week 8, stick with the treatment. You'll see the full effect of LATISSE® come into view at week 16. After that, you should talk to your doctor about ongoing use.

Possible side effects.
The most common side effects after using LATISSE® are an itching sensation in the eyes and/or eye redness, which were reported in approximately 4% of clinical trial patients. LATISSE® solution may cause other less common side effects which typically occur close to where LATISSE® is applied. These include skin darkening, eye irritation, dryness of the eyes and redness of the eyelids. If you develop a new ocular condition (e.g., trauma or infection), experience a sudden decrease in visual acuity, have ocular surgery, or develop any ocular reactions, particularly conjunctivitis and eyelid reactions, you should immediately seek your physician’s advice concerning the continued use of LATISSE® solution.

Special warnings.
LATISSE® solution is intended for use on the skin of the upper eyelid margins at the base of the eyelashes. Refer to the illustration below. DO NOT APPLY to the lower lid. If you are using LUMIGAN® ophthalmic solution or other products for elevated intraocular pressure (IOP), or if you have a history of abnormal IOP, you should only use LATISSE® under the close supervision of your physician.
